You pride yourself on being open minded, prioritizing her pleasure, and committed to her health. That’s great!
Even so, how much do you really know about vagina problems? When your date cancels a threeway you’ve got set up, you might feel put off. Or maybe you’re wondering if your girlfriend is making excuses when she’s not up for sex.
It can really help if you’re aware of some of the potential sexual health concerns that women face.
5 Female Health Concerns to Know About
1. Menstruation
If it seems to you like she always has her period, imagine how we feel! About one week a month, we have sore breasts, painful cramps, bleeding, bloating, and more.
Some women feel great during their periods, lucky them. Most have good days and bad days. It also varies how women feel about sex on their period or even the PMS that precedes it. Not sure? Just ask.
2. Yeast Infections
The chemical balance of a vagina is delicate, and anything can throw it off, from chlorine pools to polyester to a round of antibiotics. The dreaded yeast infection is common, and most women get several throughout their lives. Some get them routinely.
When the vagina’s acid is too low, the bacterial imbalance means burning, raw pain and intense itching. We can’t have sex because it’s excruciating and dry, and there are clumps of stinky, bread-like discharge—hence the name, yeast infection.
She’ll need anti-fungal pills and probiotics and vagina cream, yay.
3. Bladder Infections
Because our urethra is right by the opening of the vagina, and close to the asshole, it’s common for bacteria to go into the urinary tract.
Unfortunately, sex can cause bladder infections by pushing bacteria into the tract or irritating the plumbing. If you wonder why every woman you meet insists on peeing right after sex, it’s because it’s a good practice to help flush out unwanted travelers.
4. Bacterial Vaginosis
This is like a yeast infection except it comes with a fish odor and has no magic pill or cream to flush away. It’s treatable with medicine and ointment, but these infections don’t always respond as easily as yeast ones do.
5. Vulvodynia and Vaginismus
Vulvodynia is a condition where a woman’s vulva is often or constantly in pain. It feels like there are shards of glass in her pussy. It has driven some women literally to suicide, sadly, because for some, the pain never lets up.
They used to think it was fear of sex that caused fake vagina pain, but today no one thinks that- doctors know the fear of sex is BECAUSE of the pain. Women feel the pain without sex. For some, it’s always there.
There are different theories but few answers. Some research points to oxalic acid deposits, kind of like gout in ankles from uric acid. Oxalic acid is made from hundreds of kinds of foods, and some people can’t break them down. They are like little knives, and can destroy the thyroid, breast tissue, kidneys, and make stones. But we don’t know for sure.
Vaginismus is when the vagina muscles tense up whenever insertion happens. Some women want tight pussies, but women who suffer from this can’t even use a tampon or masturbate with a finger. It hurts.
Women with these misunderstood conditions might seek out sex with other women, or non-penetrative sex with men. Women with vulvodynia may want to leave her panties on and just enjoy sex without being touched at all on her pussy.
If you meet a woman with this condition, please take her word for it and let her participate in the way that works for her body.
